Cars, Cameras and Chaos
Two weeks ago, just before I left with a friend for a homeschool convention, Steve's car spilled out all it's inerts (okay, it was really just the radiator fluid) in the driveway. We got it to the shop and they discovered it had a blown head-gasket. A very sad day for Steve, as his 1992 Taurus with over 230,000 miles was finally nearing the end of its car-life. It is parked in our drive, waiting for the right junkyard when Steve musters up the courage to let it go. As he reminds me, "this is the care I bought to DATE you!" Last weekend, during either the trip to take Cailyn to piano lessons or the trip to go to Curtis' cello recital, our digital camera and (go figure) a laser toner cartridge I just bought from Office Depot were snatched from our van. This has resulted in a frenzy of research (those who know me, know what a research-fanatic I am on every purchase) to find the best camera/lens combination to replace it. Thankfully, God has provided in amazing ways for both of these needs. The grant provides a travel allowance to cover airfare for our family. We booked our tickets this week, and will have some funds leftover to help with the camera and laptops and projector and 2000.00 worth of travel vaccines we need for the kids (oops, said the insurance, we actually DONT cover rabies and yellow fever vaccines). So even in the midst of dying cars and stolen cameras, God is reminding us of His provision and care. Now if only I could decide on exactly which camera is best....
